giving my english essay the cold shoulder

Dicentra spectabilis
[a favorite]

Reminded of a bleeding heart,
in how we manage to blossom upside-down.

The bleeding heart blooms in early summer and will hold flowers until first frost, but only if the soil is kept moist. Planted in the shade with rich, moist soil, the plants will last much longer. Like many woodland flowers, bleeding hearts die back after blooming.
